Old Newton Bowls Club is a very friendly club, situated in the village of Old Newton, just 3 miles from the town of Stowmarket in Suffolk.

We play Federation Lawn Bowls and currently enter 7 teams in 6 leagues each week in the Stowmarket League, Area D League and Bury League.  We run two teams on Monday and Thursday evenings and one team on Tuesday afternoons and Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. We also take part in 7 knockout cup competitions within these leagues and County, as well as our own Club knockout competitions. Our Open Tournament is always a popular event as are friendly matches during the bowling season and social events during the winter.

We welcome new members, whether they are new to bowls or experienced players, and we accommodate all abilities and all ages.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

In order to comply with the current guidelines issued by the Government, the Committee have taken the following steps.

1. The Green, Changing Rooms and Clubhouse are to remain closed until further notice, this includes maintenance tasks e.g. cutting of the green etc.

2. Fees paid for the 2020 season to be rolled over for the 2021 season - unless members request a refund.

3. Friendlies with other clubs will be looked at depending on the status of the restrictions at that time.

4. Club competitions to be conducted at a time when restrictions have been lifted.

5. Currently Searles are only cancelling bookings on a monthly basis, those booked for May are still active - update on status will be given as soon as known.

6.  When restrictions are lifted the club will require members to help with some general tasks. Volunteers will be sought when more is known.
